BlockMe is a minimalist, block based WordPress theme for blogging websites and writers. It features full site editing, block patterns, a responsive and mobile-friendly design, a header navigation menu, wide and full-width block alignments, custom colors and typography through Global Styles, RTL language support, and more. The theme employs a lightweight design and optimized code for faster page load speeds, and it is very starter-friendly and easy to set up.

Method 1: Install via WordPress Dashboard (Recommended)

1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
2. Navigate to Appearance → Themes → Add New.
3. Search for BlockMe in the search box.
4. Click Install on the BlockMe theme, then click Activate.

Method 2: Upload via WordPress Dashboard

1. Download the blockme.zip theme file from WordPress.org.
2. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
3. Navigate to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
4. Click Choose File, select the blockme.zip file, and click Install Now.
5. After installation, click Activate.

Method 3: Upload via FTP/File Manager

1. Download the blockme.zip theme file and extract it.
2. Connect to your server via FTP (FileZilla) or use your hosting File Manager.
3. Upload the extracted blockme folder to /wp-content/themes/.
4. Go to your WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Themes and activate BlockMe.

You can fill your site with sample posts, pages, and media similar to the content shown in the BlockMe theme demo.

If your website already has existing posts with featured images, it's highly recommended to regenerate thumbnails after activating the BlockMe theme. This ensures that all images match the new theme's layout and display sizes.

Regenerating thumbnails is optional if your site is completely new and doesn't have any uploaded images yet.

However, if you imported the demo content, regenerating thumbnails is essential to display images correctly across the site.

1. Install and activate the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
2. Go to Tools → Regenerate Thumbnails.
3. Click the "Regenerate Thumbnails for All x Attachments" button to start the process.
4. Wait until all images are regenerated. This may take a few minutes depending on your media library size.
5. If you want, you can deactivate and delete the plugin once the process is complete.

This step ensures clean image alignment and sharp visuals throughout your website using the BlockMe theme.

This theme includes one navigation menu, located in the site header. Because BlockMe is a block theme, the menu is powered by the Navigation block instead of classic menu locations, so there are no classic Display Locations.

Right after installing the theme, the Navigation block in the header may display your existing pages as the default menu items. You can replace them with your own menu containing links, categories, pages, and more by following the steps below:

1. Go to Appearance → Editor and open the header of your site (for example, via Templates → Index or via Patterns → Template Parts → Header).
2. Click the Navigation block in the header to select it.
3. In the settings panel, open the block's list view, click the Menu options button, and choose Create a new menu.
4. To add items to the menu, click the + (Add block) icon and select the pages you want, or add Custom Link blocks for any URL, including categories and tags.
5. To create dropdown submenus, use the Add submenu link option on a menu item, or drag and nest the submenu items beneath the parent menu item.
6. Once you've added your links, click the Save button.

You can also browse your existing menus and make basic changes under Appearance → Editor → Navigation, or select a different existing menu from the Navigation block's Menu options button.

BlockMe is a block theme, so its page layouts are block templates that you can view and edit under Appearance → Editor → Templates. The theme includes the following templates:

• Index — Main fallback template (templates/index.html)
• Home — Blog posts index page (templates/home.html)
• Front Page — The front page of your site, with the hero area, posts list, and newsletter sections (templates/front-page.html)
• Single — Single post template (templates/single.html)
• Page — Static page template (templates/page.html)
• Archive — Category, tag, author, and date archives (templates/archive.html)
• Search — Search results page (templates/search.html)
• 404 — Page not found (templates/404.html)

The site header and footer are reusable template parts (parts/header.html and parts/footer.html) shared by all templates. You can edit them under Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Template Parts. A newsletter call-to-action section is also included at the bottom of every template (index, home, front page, single, page, archive, and search).

How to edit or create a template

1. Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates.
2. Click the template you want to edit and use the block editor to customize its layout.
3. To create a new custom template, click the + button, choose a starting layout, and save it.
4. Assign a custom template to a page or post using the Template panel in the editor's settings sidebar.

BlockMe ships with ready-made block patterns that you can insert into any template, page, or post. All theme patterns are grouped under the BlockMe category in the block inserter. The theme includes the following patterns:

• Default header — Site logo, site title, tagline, and the navigation menu (blockme/header)
• Default footer — About text with social links, contact details, recent posts, and the copyright bar (blockme/footer)
• Hero area — Full-width cover section with a bundled background image, heading, text, and a call-to-action button (blockme/hero)
• Posts list — List of posts with featured image, title, meta data, excerpt, "Continue Reading" link, and pagination (blockme/posts-list). The theme limits excerpts to 25 words followed by "...".
• Newsletter area — Newsletter call-to-action section with heading, text, and subscribe button (blockme/newsletter)
• 404 page — "Oops! That page can not be found." heading, description, and search field (blockme/404)

How to insert a pattern

1. Open the editor for a template, page, or post.
2. Click the + (Add block) button to open the block inserter.
3. Switch to the Patterns tab and open the BlockMe category.
4. Click a pattern to insert it, then customize its blocks as needed.

BlockMe is fully translation-ready and supports Right-to-Left (RTL) languages like Arabic, Hebrew, and Persian out of the box.

🌐 Translating the Theme

The theme includes a blockme.pot file located in the /languages folder inside the theme directory. You can use this file to create translations in your own language using any of the following tools:

• Poedit – Desktop translation editor (view tutorial)
• Loco Translate – Translate the theme directly from your WordPress dashboard (view tutorial)

After translating, save your files as:

• blockme-[language_code].po
• blockme-[language_code].mo

Place them inside the /languages folder in the theme.

If you translate the theme into your language, you can send your translation files to support@themesdna.com so they can be bundled with a future theme update.

↔️ RTL Language Support

BlockMe includes built-in RTL support. If your WordPress site language is set to an RTL language, the theme will automatically adjust layout direction, alignment, and spacing accordingly. No extra setup required.

If you're customizing your site with RTL content, make sure your text blocks, menus, and custom styles are also RTL-compatible for best results.

Here are some best practices to improve your site's performance and SEO when using BlockMe:

• Use a caching plugin — Install W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, or LiteSpeed Cache to improve page load times.
• Optimize images — Use plugins like Imagify or EWWW Image Optimizer to compress images.
• Use a CDN — A Content Delivery Network (e.g., Cloudflare) serves your content from servers closest to your visitors.
• Install an SEO plugin — Use Yoast SEO or Rank Math to manage meta tags, sitemaps, and structured data.
• Keep WordPress updated — Always use the latest versions of WordPress, themes, and plugins.
• Minimize plugins — Only keep the plugins you actually use.
• Use quality hosting — A good hosting provider makes a significant difference in performance.
• Set featured images — Always set a featured image for posts to ensure proper display in the posts list layout and when sharing on social media.
