Introduction

Thank you for choosing FlashWP PRO! This comprehensive documentation will guide you through every aspect of setting up and customizing your theme.

FlashWP PRO is an attractive, responsive/mobile friendly, 2 columns, magazine/blogging theme for WordPress. It is suitable for blog, magazine, news, and publishing websites. It features 10 post styles, 2 navigation menus, a news ticker, a featured posts slider, 20 custom widgets (17 featured posts widgets, social profiles widget, about me widget, tabbed widget), banner/ad widget, full-width and sidebar layouts, custom page templates (contact form, sitemap, authors), social share buttons, social profile links, related posts, author bio box, WooCommerce support, sticky sidebar, sticky menu, back to top button, and extensive color and font customization options.

Theme Installation

After purchasing the FlashWP PRO WordPress Theme, you'll receive a download link via email. Check your email inbox (or spam folder) for the product delivery email. Click the provided download link to download the theme's .zip file to your computer. Follow one of a method given below to install the theme on your website.

Upgrading from the Free FlashWP Theme?

FlashWP PRO is a separate theme. Whether or not you're currently using the free FlashWP theme, you need to install FlashWP PRO using one of the methods below.

If you're upgrading from the free version, most of your existing WordPress Customizer settings will remain in place. So you don't need to reconfigure everything from scratch. However, you will need to reupload a few images and reapply specific color settings.

After activating FlashWP PRO, go to Appearance → Customize and reupload the following:

Site Logo
Site Icon (favicon)
Header Image
Background Image

If you changed below color options in the free version, reapply them in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Colors:

Header Text Color
Background Color

Tip: You can install PRO without deleting the free theme. Use Live Preview to confirm your layout, then click Activate & Publish.

Method 1: Install Using the WordPress Dashboard (Easiest and Fastest)

This is the easiest and fastest method to install this WordPress theme.

Go to "WordPress Dashboard" → "Appearance" → "Themes" and click on "Add New" button.
Click on "Upload Theme" button and choose the zip file you have downloaded.
Click on "Install Now" button.
Activate the theme.
Now go to "Appearance" → "Customize" to configure theme options.

Method 2: Install using cPanel File Manager

In some cases, you may not be able to install a WordPress theme through the WordPress dashboard—especially if the theme's ZIP file exceeds the maximum upload size limit. When this happens, you can install the theme using cPanel's File Manager, which is often simpler than using FTP. Follow the steps below to install your theme via the File Manager in cPanel.

Log in to your cPanel account. Your cPanel URL will be https://yourdomain.com/cpanel or a similar URL.
Click on the "File Manager" icon. It's usually under the "Files" section.

You are now in the "File Manager". Open the public_html folder, which is your website's root directory.
Locate the wp-content folder inside "public_html," then open the themes folder inside of it.
In the File Manager interface, click the "Upload" button and choose the theme's .zip file from your local drive.
After it has been uploaded, right-click the .zip file and choose "Extract" or "Unzip".
You can now delete the uploaded .zip file, but it's optional.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard through your web browser.
Go to Appearance → Themes. Now you will see the newly extracted theme.
Make it your active theme by clicking the "Activate" button next to it.

Note: If your hosting provider doesn't offer cPanel, look for a File Manager option in your hosting dashboard (like DirectAdmin, Plesk, or CyberPanel). The process is usually very similar—just find the wp-content/themes folder and upload/extract the theme ZIP file there.

Method 3: Install using FTP

Installing a WordPress theme via FTP is straightforward, though it involves a few more steps compared to using the built-in theme uploader. Here's how to install a WordPress theme using FTP:

Unzip the theme's .zip file you have downloaded.
Connect to your hosting account using an FTP client such as "FileZilla" or "Core FTP".
Navigate to the /wp-content/themes folder in the "Remote site" section.
In the "Local site" section, locate the unzipped theme folder.
Drag and drop the unzipped theme folder from the "Local site" section to the "Remote site" section.
Be patient and let the transfer finish.
Once the transfer is complete, log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Appearance > Themes.
Find the theme you just uploaded and click Activate.

Troubleshooting Tips

Didn't receive the download email? Wait 5–10 minutes or check your spam/junk folder. But if you still can not find this email or download link is broken, please inform us. we will send it ASAP.
"The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini." - If you get this error when following the "Method 1", follow this tutorial: https://themesdna.com/blog/increase-maximum-file-upload-size-wordpress/
My menus disappeared or look different. Go to Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations and reassign your menus to the correct locations.
My header text or background color looks different after activating PRO. Reapply your colors in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Colors for Header Text Color and Background Color. Then publish.

Import Demo Content

You can import the demo content, widgets, and Customizer settings shown in the FlashWP PRO theme demo.

Manual Demo Import

Step 1: Import Main Site Content

This includes: Posts, pages, menus, media, categories, tags, comments, and custom fields.

Download: XML File
Go to Tools → Import.
Under "WordPress", click Install Now if not installed.
Click Run Importer.
Select the XML file and click Upload file and import.
Check "Download and import file attachments", click Submit.

Step 2: Import Widgets

Install the Widget Importer & Exporter plugin.
Go to Tools → Widget Importer & Exporter.
Copy content from: Widgets .wie File and paste into the box.
Click Import Widgets.

Step 3: Import Customizer Settings

Download: Customizer File
Install the Customizer Export/Import plugin.
Go to Appearance → Customize → Export/Import.
Select the .dat file, check "Download and import image files?", click Import.

Regenerate Thumbnails

If your website already has existing posts with featured images, it's highly recommended to regenerate thumbnails after activating the FlashWP PRO theme. This ensures that all images match the new theme's layout and display sizes.

Regenerating thumbnails is optional if your site is completely new and doesn't have any uploaded images yet.

However, if you imported the demo content, regenerating thumbnails is essential to display images correctly across the site.

Install and activate the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
Go to Tools → Regenerate Thumbnails.
Click the "Regenerate Thumbnails for All x Attachments" button to start the process.
Wait until all images are regenerated. This may take a few minutes depending on your media library size.
If you want, you can deactivate and delete the plugin once the process is complete.

This step ensures clean image alignment and sharp visuals throughout your website using the FlashWP PRO theme.

Header Image

FlashWP PRO supports a custom header image that sits above the logo/site-title area.

How to Upload a Header Image

Go to Appearance → Customize.
Click on Header Image.
Click Add new image and upload or select an image from the Media Library.
Adjust cropping if prompted.
Click Publish to save changes.

Site Title & Tagline Display

The Site Title and Tagline (from Site Identity) appear in the header content area below the header image. They are not overlaid on the image.

You can toggle their visibility using the Display Site Title & Tagline option in Site Identity, or hide the entire header content area with the Hide Header Content option under Header Options.

Recommended image width: Use an image around the theme's default header width (1050px wide) or larger for crisp display.
The header image automatically links to the homepage.

Navigation Menus

This theme includes two Display Locations for menus: Primary Menu and Secondary Menu.

Right after installing the theme, WordPress may display your existing pages as the default menu items in these locations. You can replace them with your own custom menus containing links, categories, pages, and more by following the steps below:

Go to Appearance → Menus and click the create a new menu link.
Enter a name for your menu in the Menu Name field.
Select a display location for your menu by checking one of the available options under Display location
Click the Create Menu button.
To add items to the menu, use the options in the left-hand column—select the pages, posts, categories, or tags you want, then click Add to Menu.
To create dropdown menus, simply drag and nest the submenu items beneath the parent menu item.
Once you've added your links, click the Save Menu button.

News Ticker

FlashWP PRO includes a built-in News Ticker (also known as a breaking news bar) that scrolls post headlines horizontally. It is perfect for news or magazine sites that want to highlight recent or important articles.

How to Enable the News Ticker

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → News Ticker.
Check the Enable News Ticker option.
Configure the following options:
- News Ticker Heading: The label shown before the ticker items (default: "Breaking News").
- Number of News Ticker Posts: How many posts to display (default: 5).
- News Ticker Posts Type: Choose from Recent Posts, Popular Posts, Random Posts, Category Posts, or Tag Posts.
- News Ticker Posts Category: Select a category (if using Category Posts type).
- News Ticker Posts Tag: Select a tag (if using Tag Posts type).
- News Ticker Duration: Animation duration in milliseconds (default: 60000).
Click Publish to save changes.

Slider

FlashWP PRO includes a built-in Featured Posts Slider that displays posts with their featured images in a sliding carousel.

How to Enable the Slider

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Slider.
Check the Enable Slider option.
Configure the following options:
- Slider Display Location: Choose where the slider appears (Home Page, Static Home Page, Blog Posts Index Page, Post Pages, Static Pages, Post/Static Pages, Category Pages, Tag Pages, Author Pages, All Archive Pages, Search Pages, 404 Pages, or Everywhere).
- Number of Slider Posts: How many posts to display in the slider (default: 5).
- Slider Posts Type: Choose from Recent Posts, Popular Posts, Random Posts, Category Posts, or Tag Posts.
- Slider Posts Category: Select a category (if using Category Posts type).
- Slider Posts Tag: Select a tag (if using Tag Posts type).
- Hide Slide Post Categories / Author / Date / Comments: Toggle visibility of meta on slides.
Click Publish to save changes.

Slider Tips

Make sure all posts used in the slider have a featured image set for best visual results.
Use high-quality images for the slider to ensure they look crisp on all screen sizes.

Custom Widgets

FlashWP PRO includes 20 custom widgets designed specifically for magazine and blog layouts. These widgets must be activated first before they become available in the Widgets screen.

How to Activate Custom Widgets

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Custom Widgets.
Check the box for each widget you want to activate.
Click Publish to save.
Go to Appearance → Widgets and drag the activated widgets into your desired widget areas.

Performance Note

To prevent slowing down your site, only activate widgets you are going to use.
Each activated widget loads additional CSS and PHP code, so keeping unused widgets deactivated helps improve site performance.

Featured Posts Widgets (1–17)

FlashWP PRO provides 17 unique Featured Posts Widget styles. Each widget displays posts in a different layout — grids, lists, overlays, side-by-side, and more.

FlashWP Social Profiles Widget

This widget displays social media profile links as icons. URLs are entered per widget instance (not pulled from the global Social Profiles options).

How to Set Up

Activate the Social Widget in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Custom Widgets.
Drag the FlashWP Social Profiles Widget into a widget area via Appearance → Widgets.
In the widget form, enter the profile URLs you want to show (each field is optional) and choose whether to display round or square icons.

FlashWP About Me Widget

This widget displays an "About Me" or "About Us" section with an optional image, title, description, and social profile icons (entered per widget instance). It also lets you choose round or square icons.

How to Set Up

Activate the About Widget in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Custom Widgets.
Drag the FlashWP About Widget into a widget area via Appearance → Widgets.
In the widget form, add your image URL (optional), description, and any social profile URLs you want to show. Toggle the round social buttons option if preferred.

FlashWP Tabbed Widget

This widget displays posts in up to three tabs: Popular (by comment count), Recent, and Random. Each tab can be toggled on/off. You can customize tab labels, post count, thumbnails, metadata, and snippet length.

How to Set Up

Activate the Tabbed Widget in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Custom Widgets.
Drag the FlashWP Tabbed Widget into a widget area via Appearance → Widgets.
Configure which tabs to show, their labels, post count, and whether to show thumbnails, author, date, comments, and snippets (with length).

Located on the header of your web page. Drag a "Custom HTML" widget here to add your 728×90 banner ad code.
Sidebar 1
Normally located on the left or right side of your web page, depending on the layout style you select.
Top Full Width Widgets (Front Page Only)
Full-width widget area at the top of the homepage. Displayed only on the front page (first page only).
Top Full Width Widgets (Posts Pages Only)
Full-width widget area at the top of single post pages (except attachments and pages).
Top Full Width Widgets (Posts/Static Pages Only)
Full-width widget area at the top of single posts/pages (including attachments and pages).

How to Control Widget Visibility by Location

1. If you'd like to display a widget in specific locations only, install and activate the Widget Display Conditions or Widget Context plugin.

2. Drag and drop your widget into any of the "Every Page" widget areas or footer areas.

3. If using Widget Display Conditions, click the Display conditions button at the bottom of your widget settings.

4. Click on Add group button.

5. Set your widget display conditions and click save.

Custom Page Templates

FlashWP PRO includes custom page and post templates for alternative layouts and a few special pages.

Special Function Templates

Contact Form: Creates a contact page with a built-in contact form.
Sitemap: Displays a structured list of your site's pages, categories, and archives.
Authors: Shows a list of all authors on your site with their profiles and post counts.

Layout Templates

"Full Width, no sidebar" (Page/Post): Displays content in full width without any sidebars.
"Full Width, bottom sidebar" (Page/Post): Displays content in full width with a sidebar below it.
"Content + Sidebar 1" (Page/Post): Shows content on the left and a sidebar on the right.
"Sidebar 1 + Content" (Page/Post): Shows a sidebar on the left and content on the right.

How to Assign a Custom Template

Go to Pages or Posts → Add New or edit an existing page/post.
Look for the Template option:
- In Gutenberg: Click the Page/Post tab in the right sidebar and scroll down to find the Template option.
- In Classic Editor: Enable the Page/Post Attributes box via Screen Options, then use the Template dropdown.
Select the desired template from the list.
Click Publish or Update to apply the template.

How to Create a Contact Page

FlashWP PRO includes a built-in Contact Form template.

Step 1: Create the Contact Page

Go to Pages → Add New.
Give your page a title like Contact Us.
Select the Contact Form template.
Click Publish.

Step 2: Configure the Contact Form Email

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Contact Page Options.
Enter your preferred email address in the Contact Form Email Address field.
Click Publish to save.

Note: If you do not set the Contact Form Email Address, the form will not send emails.

For advanced form features (spam protection, file uploads), consider using Contact Form 7.

How to Create a Sitemap Page

FlashWP PRO includes a built-in Sitemap template that displays pages, posts, categories, tags, archives, and authors.

Go to Pages → Add New.
Enter a title like Sitemap.
Select the Sitemap template.
Click Publish.

The page is automatically generated and updates as new content is added.

How to Create a Site Authors Page

FlashWP PRO includes a built-in Authors template that displays all users with the Author role or higher.

Step 1: Create the Authors Page

Go to Pages → Add New.
Enter a title like Our Authors.
Select the Authors template.
Click Publish.

Step 2: Customize Author Display (Optional)

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Authors Page Options.
Toggle options to hide administrators or authors with zero posts.
Click Publish to save.

Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
Navigate to Appearance → Customize.

Troubleshooting

Featured images not displaying correctly

After switching themes or importing demo content, you need to regenerate thumbnails. Install the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, go to Tools → Regenerate Thumbnails, and click Regenerate All Thumbnails.

Slider not showing

Make sure: (1) The slider is enabled in Theme Options → Slider. (2) Posts have featured images set. (3) The slider display location matches the page you're viewing.

Custom widgets not appearing in the Widgets screen

Custom widgets must be activated first. Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Custom Widgets and check the box for each widget you want to use.

Contact form not sending emails

Make sure you have set your email address in Theme Options → Contact Page Options. Also ensure your hosting supports PHP mail() function. If not, consider using an SMTP plugin like WP Mail SMTP.

Menu not showing

Make sure: (1) You've created a menu in Appearance → Menus. (2) You've assigned it to a theme location (Primary Menu or Secondary Menu). (3) The menu is not hidden via Theme Options → Other Options.

White screen or PHP errors

This usually indicates a PHP compatibility issue. Ensure your server meets the minimum requirements: PHP 7.2+ and WordPress 5.0+. Try disabling all plugins and switching to a default theme to isolate the issue.

Sidebar not showing in One Column layout

When using the One Column layout, the sidebar is hidden by default. To show it below the content, enable the Show Sidebar in One Column Layout option in Theme Options → Layout Options.
