Thank you for purchasing EliteWP PRO WordPress Theme! EliteWP is a clean and elegant, fully responsive, 2 columns, blogging theme for WordPress. It has user-friendly customizer theme options, header and footer navigation menus, 10 posts styles, full-width custom templates for posts/pages, sticky menu and sticky sidebar, right sidebar, 4 columns footer, social buttons, beautiful post summaries, scroll-to-top button and more.

With the PRO version you get color and font options, slider with more options, 10 different post styles, 17 featured posts widgets, social/about/tabbed widgets, separate layout options for singular and non-singular pages, 10+ custom page/post templates, footer layout options, share buttons, related posts and more features.

Quick Start Guide

To get started with EliteWP PRO, follow these steps:

Install the theme via your WordPress Dashboard, cPanel, or FTP (see installation guide).
Import demo content to see how the theme looks with sample data (see demo import guide).
Regenerate thumbnails to ensure images display correctly (see thumbnail guide).
Customize the theme via Appearance → Customize → Theme Options.
Set up your menus under Appearance → Menus (see menus guide).
Add widgets to widget areas under Appearance → Widgets (see widget areas guide).

Theme Installation

After purchasing the EliteWP PRO WordPress Theme, you'll receive a download link via email. Check your email inbox (or spam folder) for the product delivery email. Click the provided download link to download the theme's .zip file to your computer. Follow one of a method given below to install the theme on your website.

Upgrading from the Free EliteWP Theme?

EliteWP PRO is a separate theme. Whether or not you're currently using the free EliteWP theme, you need to install EliteWP PRO using one of the methods below.

If you're upgrading from the free version, most of your existing WordPress Customizer settings will remain in place. So you don't need to reconfigure everything from scratch. However, you will need to reupload a few images and reapply specific color settings.

After activating EliteWP PRO, go to Appearance → Customize and reupload the following:

Site Logo
Site Icon (favicon)
Header Image
Background Image

If you changed below color options in the free version, reapply them in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Colors:

Header Text Color
Background Color

Tip: You can install PRO without deleting the free theme. Use Live Preview to confirm your layout, then click Activate & Publish.

Method 1: Install Using the WordPress Dashboard (Easiest and Fastest)

This is the easiest and fastest method to install this WordPress theme.

Go to "WordPress Dashboard" → "Appearance" → "Themes" and click on "Add New" button.
Click on "Upload Theme" button and choose the zip file you have downloaded.
Click on "Install Now" button.
Activate the theme.
Now go to "Appearance" → "Customize" to configure theme options.

Method 2: Install using cPanel File Manager

In some cases, you may not be able to install a WordPress theme through the WordPress dashboard—especially if the theme's ZIP file exceeds the maximum upload size limit. When this happens, you can install the theme using cPanel's File Manager, which is often simpler than using FTP. Follow the steps below to install your theme via the File Manager in cPanel.

Log in to your cPanel account. Your cPanel URL will be https://yourdomain.com/cpanel or a similar URL.
Click on the "File Manager" icon. It's usually under the "Files" section.

You are now in the "File Manager". Open the public_html folder, which is your website's root directory.
Locate the wp-content folder inside "public_html," then open the themes folder inside of it.
In the File Manager interface, click the "Upload" button and choose the theme's .zip file from your local drive.
After it has been uploaded, right-click the .zip file and choose "Extract" or "Unzip".
You can now delete the uploaded .zip file, but it's optional.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard through your web browser.
Go to Appearance → Themes. Now you will see the newly extracted theme.
Make it your active theme by clicking the "Activate" button next to it.

Note: If your hosting provider doesn't offer cPanel, look for a File Manager option in your hosting dashboard (like DirectAdmin, Plesk, or CyberPanel). The process is usually very similar—just find the wp-content/themes folder and upload/extract the theme ZIP file there.

Method 3: Install using FTP

Installing a WordPress theme via FTP is straightforward, though it involves a few more steps compared to using the built-in theme uploader. Here's how to install a WordPress theme using FTP:

Unzip the theme's .zip file you have downloaded.
Connect to your hosting account using an FTP client such as "FileZilla" or "Core FTP".
Navigate to the /wp-content/themes folder in the "Remote site" section.
In the "Local site" section, locate the unzipped theme folder.
Drag and drop the unzipped theme folder from the "Local site" section to the "Remote site" section.
Be patient and let the transfer finish.
Once the transfer is complete, log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to Appearance > Themes.
Find the theme you just uploaded and click Activate.

Troubleshooting Tips

Didn't receive the download email? Wait 5–10 minutes or check your spam/junk folder. But if you still can not find this email or download link is broken, please inform us. we will send it ASAP.
"The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini." - If you get this error when following the "Method 1", follow this tutorial: https://themesdna.com/blog/increase-maximum-file-upload-size-wordpress/
My menus disappeared or look different. Go to Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations and reassign your menus to the correct locations.
My header text or background color looks different after activating PRO. Reapply your colors in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Colors for Header Text Color and Background Color. Then publish.

Import Demo Content

You can import the demo content, widgets, and Customizer settings shown in the EliteWP PRO theme demo.

Manual Demo Import

Step 1: Import Main Site Content

This includes: Posts, pages, menus, media, categories, tags, comments, and custom fields.

Download: XML File
Go to Tools → Import.
Under "WordPress", click Install Now if not installed.
Click Run Importer.
Select the XML file and click Upload file and import.
Check "Download and import file attachments", click Submit.

Step 2: Import Widgets

Install the Widget Importer & Exporter plugin.
Go to Tools → Widget Importer & Exporter.
Copy content from: Widgets .wie File and paste into the box.
Click Import Widgets.

Step 3: Import Customizer Settings

Download: Customizer File
Install the Customizer Export/Import plugin.
Go to Appearance → Customize → Export/Import.
Select the .dat file, check "Download and import image files?", click Import.

Regenerate Thumbnails

If your website already has existing posts with featured images, it's highly recommended to regenerate thumbnails after activating the EliteWP PRO theme. This ensures that all images match the new theme's layout and display sizes.

Regenerating thumbnails is optional if your site is completely new and doesn't have any uploaded images yet.

However, if you imported the demo content, regenerating thumbnails is essential to display images correctly across the site.

Install and activate the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
Go to Tools → Regenerate Thumbnails.
Click the "Regenerate Thumbnails for All x Attachments" button to start the process.
Wait until all images are regenerated. This may take a few minutes depending on your media library size.
If you want, you can deactivate and delete the plugin once the process is complete.

This step ensures clean image alignment and sharp visuals throughout your website using the EliteWP PRO theme.

Header Image

EliteWP PRO supports WordPress custom header images. You can set a site-wide header image that displays across your entire website.

How to Set a Header Image

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Customize.
Click on Header Image.
Click Add new image and upload or select an image from your media library.
You may be asked to crop the image. Adjust the crop area as desired and click Crop Image, or click Skip Cropping to use the full image.
Click Publish to save your changes.

How to Remove a Header Image

Go to Appearance → Customize → Header Image.
Click Hide image or Remove header image.
Click Publish to save.

Tips

Use high-quality images for the best results.
Recommended image width is at least 1280 pixels.
You can hide the header content area from Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Header Options.

Navigation Menus

This theme includes two Display Locations for menus: Primary Menu and Secondary Menu.

Right after installing the theme, WordPress may display your existing pages as the default menu items in these locations. You can replace them with your own custom menus containing links, categories, pages, and more by following the steps below:

Go to Appearance → Menus and click the create a new menu link.
Enter a name for your menu in the Menu Name field.
Select a display location for your menu by checking one of the available options under Display location
Click the Create Menu button.
To add items to the menu, use the options in the left-hand column—select the pages, posts, categories, or tags you want, then click Add to Menu.
To create dropdown menus, simply drag and nest the submenu items beneath the parent menu item.
Once you've added your links, click the Save Menu button.

News Ticker

EliteWP PRO includes a built-in News Ticker (also known as a "Breaking News" bar) that displays scrolling post titles in a horizontal marquee.

How to Enable the News Ticker

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Customize.
Navigate to Theme Options → News Ticker.
Check the Enable News Ticker option.
Configure the following settings:
- News Ticker Heading: Custom heading text (default: "Breaking News").
- Number of News Ticker Posts: How many posts to show (default: 5).
- News Ticker Posts Type: Recent Posts, Popular Posts, Random Posts, Category Posts, or Tag Posts.
- News Ticker Posts Category: Select a category (if Posts Type is Category Posts).
- News Ticker Posts Tag: Select a tag (if Posts Type is Tag Posts).
- News Ticker Duration: Scrolling duration in milliseconds (default: 60000).
Click Publish to save your changes.

Slider

EliteWP PRO features a built-in post carousel/slider that displays featured posts with their thumbnails, categories, titles, authors, dates, and comment counts.

How to Enable the Slider

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Customize.
Navigate to Theme Options → Slider.
Check the Enable Slider option.
Configure the following settings:
- Slider Display Location: Choose where the slider appears (Home Page, Static Home Page, Blog Posts Index Page, Post Pages, Static Pages, Post/Static Pages, Category Pages, Tag Pages, Author Pages, All Archive Pages, Search Pages, 404 Pages, or Everywhere).
- Number of Slider Posts: How many posts to show (default: 5).
- Slider Posts Type: Recent Posts, Popular Posts, Random Posts, Category Posts, or Tag Posts.
- Slider Posts Category / Tag: Select a specific category or tag.
- Hide Slide Post Categories / Author / Date / Comments: Toggle visibility of each element.
Click Publish to save your changes.

Important

Posts must have Featured Images (Post Thumbnails) set for them to appear in the slider.
Use high-quality, consistently-sized images for the best visual results.

Custom Widgets

EliteWP PRO includes a rich set of custom widgets that extend your site's functionality. To prevent slowing down your site, custom widgets must be individually activated before use.

How to Activate Custom Widgets

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Appearance → Customize.
Navigate to Theme Options → Custom Widgets.
Enable the widgets you want to use by checking their respective checkboxes.
Click Publish to save.
Go to Appearance → Widgets and drag the activated widgets into your desired widget areas.

Performance Tip

Only activate widgets you are actually going to use. Each active widget adds code to your site, so deactivating unused widgets helps keep your site fast.

Featured Posts Widgets (1–17)

EliteWP PRO includes 17 different Featured Posts Widgets, each with a unique layout style for displaying posts. These widgets allow you to create magazine-style layouts by showing posts with thumbnails, titles, categories, authors, dates, and excerpts in various arrangements.

You can preview each widget style before activating it by clicking the preview links in the Custom Widgets section of the Customizer.

This widget area is located in the header of your web page. You can drag and drop a "Custom HTML" widget into this widget area and add your banner ad code into that widget.

This widget area is located on the side of your web page (left or right depending on your layout settings).
Top Full Width Widgets (Front Page Only)
This full-width widget area is located after the header. Widgets are displayed on the front page only.

How to Control Widget Visibility by Location

1. If you'd like to display a widget in specific locations only, install and activate the Widget Display Conditions or Widget Context plugin.

2. Drag and drop your widget into any of the "Every Page" widget areas.

3. If you are using Widget Display Conditions plugin, you will see a button called Display conditions at the bottom of your widget settings. Click on that button.

4. Click on Add group button.

5. Set your widget display conditions and click save.

Custom Page Templates

EliteWP PRO includes custom page and post templates that let you create pages and posts with unique layouts beyond the default design.

Special Function Templates

Contact Form: Creates a contact page with a built-in contact form.
Sitemap: Displays a structured list of your site's pages, categories, and archives.
Authors: Shows a list of all authors on your site with their profiles and post counts.

Layout Templates

"Full Width, no sidebar" (Page/Post): Displays content in full width without any sidebars.
"Full Width, bottom sidebar" (Page/Post): Displays content in full width with a sidebar below it.
"Content + Sidebar 1" (Page/Post): Shows content on the left and a sidebar on the right.
"Sidebar 1 + Content" (Page/Post): Shows a sidebar on the left and content on the right.

How to Assign a Custom Template

Go to Pages or Posts → Add New or edit an existing page/post.
Look for the Template option:
- In Gutenberg: Click the Page or Post tab in the right sidebar and scroll to find the Template option.
- In Classic Editor: Enable the Page Attributes or Post Attributes box via Screen Options, then use the Template dropdown.
Select the desired template from the list.
Click Publish or Update.

How to Create a Contact Page

EliteWP PRO includes a built-in Contact Form template.

Step 1: Create the Contact Page

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Pages → Add New.
Give your page a title like Contact Us.
Select the Contact Form template.
Click Publish.

Step 2: Configure the Contact Form Email Address

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Page Templates Options.
Enter your preferred email address in the Contact Form Email Address field.
Click Publish to save.

Note: If you do not set the Contact Form Email Address, the form will not send emails.

How to Create a Sitemap Page

EliteWP PRO includes a built-in Sitemap page template that displays a full, structured list of your site's content.

How to Create a Site Authors Page

EliteWP PRO includes a built-in Authors page template that displays all users with the Author role or higher.

Step 1: Create the Authors Page

Go to WordPress Dashboard → Pages → Add New.
Enter a title like Our Authors.
Select the Authors template.
Click Publish.

Step 2: Customize Display (Optional)

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Page Templates Options.
Toggle Hide site administrators or Hide authors with zero posts.
Click Publish.

🌐 Translating the Theme

The theme includes a elitewp-pro.pot file located in the /languages folder inside the theme directory. You can use this file to create translations in your own language using any of the following tools:

When switching from the free to PRO version, you need to manually reupload your Site Logo, Header Image, Site Icon, and Background Image via Appearance → Customize.

My menus disappeared after theme activation. What should I do?

Go to Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations and reassign your existing menus to the correct theme locations.

How do I add a numbered posts navigation?

This theme uses the WP-PageNavi plugin to display numbered page navigation. Just install and activate the plugin.

How do I reset Customizer settings to default?

Go to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Other Options, then click the Reset Theme Options button. A confirmation dialog will appear. Confirm the action to reset your WordPress Customizer settings.

How do I change the number of footer columns?

Post thumbnails are missing when sharing on social media

Install an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO or Rank Math and enable Open Graph tags. Always set a featured image for each post to ensure proper thumbnails appear when sharing.

I get "The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive" error

This means your hosting has a small file upload limit. Follow this guide to increase it or use cPanel/File Manager to upload the theme.

Images appear blurry or incorrectly cropped

Install and run the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to regenerate all image sizes for the theme.

Slider is not showing any posts

Make sure the slider is enabled in Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Slider and that your posts have Featured Images set.
